G-TAP A Series
Active Network TAPs with Battery Backup Power
The G-TAP A Series includes 10/100/1000Mbps and 1/10Gbps network TAPs that support the Gigamon “Always On” architecture in both lower and higher density formats. Battery backup power and fail-to-wire capabilities prevent network downtime. SNMP traps alert you to changes in power or link state of the TAPs’ network or monitor ports. These managed TAPs support 10/100/1000 Base-T copper, 10Gb direct attach copper and optical network media conversion.
G-TAP A Series Use Cases
- Fault tolerant for a 10/100/1000 link providing full-duplex traffic to attached monitoring and visibility tools
- Provides 10G SFP+ capabilities for visibility into applications requiring direct attach copper
- Provides 1Gb and 10Gb media (wavelength, mode, fiber) conversion between network and monitoring tools
- Active monitoring of link state and power levels to help ensure uptime and connectivity
- Integrated with GigaVUE® appliances as part of a complete network visibility solution
"Always On" Architecture
The G-TAP A Series active network TAPs mirror 100 percent of network traffic, including errors and nonstandard or malformed network packets that do not conform to established Layer 2 network protocol standards, enabling detailed visibility for security and network monitoring.
The product’s unique design constantly charges the integrated backup battery while using any of the primary forms of power (PoE*, AC and DC), allowing this series of TAPs to assume power load in the event of primary power failure.
Intelligent network monitoring from the G-TAP A Series provides SNMP trap alerts when events occur: power switches to the backup battery, power levels dropping below a threshold, network ports/links going “down” or network ports/links going “up.”
The G-TAP A Series, along with the Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline, provides pervasive and intelligent visibility across the distributed enterprise, thereby enabling efficient use of security and networking tools.
* PoE is not supported as power source for G-TAP A Series 2.
